learn this code. Local codes are being swept away by one standard. Here
is Colorado each town had its own test, amendments and licensing
system. California is the only state, having revamped its code 2 years
ago, to keep its system. I finish basements, often for homeowners
who think they can do it. From Loveland, I can work any city without
irate inspectors wondering why I don't know their specific
requirements. Good book. | | AvgCustomerRating | 5.0 |

C. Maxwell offers lively stories about the foibles and successes of Lee
Iacocca, Abraham Lincoln, Princess Diana, and Elizabeth Dole in The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.
Readers can expect a well-crafted discussion that emphasizes the core
attitudes and visions of leadership. Maxwell uses the same
tell-it-like-it-is approach that he honed in the bestselling Developing the Leader Within You.
For instance, when explaining "The Law of Influence," Maxwell states
that "job titles don't have much value when it comes to leading. True
leadership cannot be awarded, appointed or assigned. It comes only from
influence and that can't be mandated." Even after Princess Diana was
stripped of her title, Maxwell says she was still able to lead a global
effort toward banning land mines because of her sophisticated ability
to influence others. If readers are looking for a step-by-step
formula, Maxwell's list of "laws" will probably seem too chatty and
anecdote driven. There are no specific tips on what readers can do
during the next workday to help them become stronger leaders. On the
other hand, Maxwell's background as a pastor gives him an inspirational
voice and a spiritual context to leadership that many business and
church leaders appreciate. --Gail Hudson | | Comment | "The
21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" by John Maxwell is an excellent book
about the qualities a leader must possess. John Maxwell has an easy to
read style along with excellent examples to illustrate his laws.
Maxwell hits the nail on the head with this book. I enjoyed reading
about the laws, but I really wished he had gone into more detail about
how to personally improve each of the laws he states.
Regardless, this book is a must read for leaders and anyone looking to improve themselves. 4 out of 5 stars.
i think the book was in very good condition in the first place.
john c maxwell is one of my favourite leadreship writers. all i can say is just, keep it up.

though im in my twenties. i realize some of
the ideas or "laws" may not be very new. but the author neatly compiles
all those things that make leaders what they are for those of us who
wish for something more or aspire for something better. quite simply,
he points us in the best possible direction. idiosyncrasies, if any,
cannot be avoided. the guy is still human anyway. however, its best to
just take the book with a grain of salt and try to make the best use of
the "laws" for perhaps better outcomes in your group or organization.
in all, its a good book. | | AvgCustomerRating | 4.0 |

Levin | | ReleaseDate | 07 February, 2005 | | Manufacturer | Regnery Publishing, Inc. | | Availability | Usually ships in 24 hours | | ListPrice | $27.95 | | OurPrice | $18.45 | | UsedPrice | $15.75 | | ProductDescription | Conservative talk radio host, lawyer, and frequent National Review contributor Mark R. Levin comes out firing against the United States Supreme Court in Men in Black,
accusing the institution of corrupting the ideals of America's founding
fathers. The court, in Levin's estimation, pursues an ideology-based
activist agenda that oversteps its authority within the government.
Levin examines several decisions in the court's history to illustrate
his point, beginning with the landmark Marbury v. Madison case,
wherein the court granted itself the power to declare acts of the other
branches of government unconstitutional. He devotes later chapters to
other key cases culminating in modern issues such as same-sex marriage
and the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill. Like effective
attorneys do, Levin packs in copious research material and delivers his
points with tremendous vigor, excoriating the justices for instances
where he feels strict const! itutional constructivism gave way to
biased interpretation. But Levin's definition of "activism" seems
inconsistent. In the case of McCain-Feingold, the court declined to
rule on a bill already passed by congress and signed by the president,
but Levin, who thinks the bill violates the First Amendment, still
accuses them of activism even when they were actually passive. To his
talk-radio listeners, Levin's hard-charging style and dire warnings of
the court's direction will strike a resonant tone of alarm, though the
hyperbole may be a bit off-putting to the uninitiated. As an attack on
the vagaries of decisions rendered by the Supreme Court and on some
current justices, Men in Black scores points and will likely lead sympathetic juries to conviction. --John Moe | | Comment | We
are in trouble in the court system in the U.S. It is down right
frightening to know of the decisions being made based on a person's
beliefs. Be it conservative or liberal. The CONSTITUTION should be the
guide for determining justice. Mark Levine does an excellent job,
through his unbelievable research and experience, in making the point
that we need to be more active in voicing our views to our elected
officials. AND, study who we put in those positions that end up putting
judges in power !!!!!
Men in Black shows how the US Supreme
Court is turning our country from a Republic into a dictatorship of
five people, overturning the will of the people and the express
standards set in our Constitution. The Supreme Court is repealing the
Bill of Rights and the Rule of Law with each new decision. A must read
for any one interested in freedom.
It disappoints me that I can
not be more enthusiastic about "Men In Black." Though I consider myself
a conservative, I find that Mark Levin goes beyond conservativism into
partisanship.
This is regrettable because Levin does succeed in explaining,
particularly to lay audience, the history of the Supreme Court and its
rightful place in American government, which are subjects that most
people don't understand. The mechanics of the court system are not, for
most people, comprehensible, much less exciting. Here, Levin provides
solid scholarship accessible to the average person.
Levin does well in explaining and demonstrating how the Supreme
Court - and all levels of our courts - have strayed from the intent of
the Founders and established themselves as an unelected government
superior in their own minds to the legislative and executive branches
of government.
There can be no doubt of the accuracy of Levin's argument. The
problem of "Men In Blsck" lies in Levin's adoption of certain cases and
movements as evidence. For example, Levin chastises the Court for
holding that burning the American flag is protected under the First
Amendment. Well, I consider myself a conservative - and I agree with
the Court. There are simply some issues that resonable people can
disagree on, but Levin doesn't seem to allow that latitude. This is
regrettable, because generally Levin's arguments are strong. Likewise,
Levin allows himself to get wrapped up in Roe v. Wade and the entire
abortion issue. There are many people, like myself, who believe that
the legal reasoning in Row v. Wade is lacking, if not entirely
non-existent. Yet it is possible at the same time for even
conservatives to believe the ultimate holding is correct. In fact, I
know that I am not alone in believing that abortion does constitute the
taking of a human life, but that government has absolutely no right to
dictate what a woman may do with regard to her own body. In other
words, Roe v. Wade is simply not a good way to illustrate the truth of
Levin's theme that "the Supreme Court is destroying America." It is:
but Roe v. Wade is not likely to get the majority of people to agree
with that premise.
As I said, I wish I could offer "Men In Black" higher praise, but
I think Levin picked the wrong way to illustrate by choosing polarizing
examples. There are numerous other Supreme Court decisions he could
have used that would have brought home the point that courts in general
need to be reined in and brought under the control of the people, as
the Founders intended.

on his bookshelf. So would Isaac Newton. This may be the most complete
mathematical explanation of the universe yet published, and Roger
Penrose richly deserves the accolades he will receive for it. That
said, let us be perfectly clear: this is not an easy book to read. The
number of people in the world who can understand everything in
it could probably take a taxi together to Penrose's next lecture.
Still, math-friendly readers looking for a substantial and possibly
even thrillingly difficult intellectual experience should pick up a
copy (carefully--it's over a thousand pages long and weighs nearly 4
pounds) and start at the beginning, where Penrose sets out his purpose:
to describe "the search for the underlying principles that govern the
behavior of our universe." Beginning with the deceptively simple
geometry of Pythagoras and the Greeks, Penrose guides readers through
the fundamentals--the incontrovertible bricks that hold up the fanciful
mathematical structures of later chapters. From such theoretical
delights as complex-number calculus, Riemann surfaces, and Clifford
bundles, the tour takes us quickly on to the nature of spacetime. The
bulk of the book is then devoted to quantum physics, cosmological
theories (including Penrose's favored ideas about string theory and
universal inflation), and what we know about how the universe is held
together. For physicists, mathematicians, and advanced students, The Road to Reality
is an essential field guide to the universe. For enthusiastic amateurs,
the book is a project to tackle a bit at a time, one with unimaginable
intellectual rewards. --Therese Littleton | | Comment | It
was 3 August ,centuries ago,and talking to my daughter , I was telling
her that my way of living is to try to keep up the time of eternity but
I only had 1/10000000000 chance or less to arrive there.
As argument I told her that it were years that I was trying to
understand how can be that Italy and Europe have such an human shape
and, otherwise, the universe seems so unhuman.
I told that nobody at school or anywhere else had never explained
me that, or at least admitted that this is a problem that science has
to answer.
Today, 5 August ,arrived at page 806 of The Road to Reality I
found my answer, now I can save the future of all the humanity and we
shall all live for ever happily! It is so simple:"Scrodinger's cat with Copenaghen ontology...as
for Eugene Wigner... according to wich some new type of behaviour come
into play with beings who possess consciouness...Imagine some earth
like planet without conscious life...there wheather is just some
quantum superposed mess that does not resemble an actual weather in the
sense that we know it..."
So one day a child has reached consciouness, probably he has been
living in Europe and the earth suddenly becomed an ordinary world.
So if earth stops sending in space Military and starts to send poets and belivers we shall find a better universe...
For those who need proves, just use Schrodinger' cat, prepared by
cat's lovers and any bad insect prepared by insect's haters and if cats
live more than 50% and insects less than 50% we will know why world has
this shape;it is because a child has becomed councious;universe has a
diferent shape because another counciouness has preceded us,and we
could still save ourselves if we always send to new worlds the most
optimists and immmaginatives people among us,thanks Penrose:bravo an
excelent book!
This book is truly unique in my experience.
It does not hold back on the math of physics but instead holds that
understanding the physics is impossible without knowing the basics of
the math involved. Sure, it takes some work to read through the
sections explaining the basics of key math concepts such as manifolds
and tensors, but it is worth it to have such a much deeper
understanding of the physical theories. Penrose is the perfect person
to attempt this feat: he's an innovator in both math and physics.
It
is a complete book about all laws of physics stablished up to now. A
book to be read and kept for future consultation. Not easy for people
without basic education in maths and physics, but it is not necessary
to be a Msc or Phd in these disciplines. It is big and complete. | | AvgCustomerRating | 4.0 |

Well 1st I must say that this is a great K book.
However, it strays into some IP (I think) space with the ProCD
case. Thus, my K teacher skips a lot of cases not out of time concerns
but for content. There are a lot of international cases which are more
or less worthless in my class. It is amazing how the UK cases are
simply spoken from the bench and not written yet the prose is of
immense quality.
Also there are lots of sub cases that are not bolded. Often I miss
them as I am briefing so you have to keep your eyes open for them.
You probably have no choice whether to purchase this book
or not as it is likely required and if it was not what in the world
would you be doing buying one of these? Yet if you are required you
are in luck. Farnsworth's book is legendary. The selection of cases
hits all the right points from drunken farm sales, to conniving
socialites, and a classic selection of King's Bench tales. Not
only are the cases well selected, but the budding law student gets to
read Farnsworth's wry commentary and always salient observations. The
only downside is his inclusion of foreign contract law representing his
love of travels around the world but this is a minor flaw. There is but one legend of Contract Case Books and his name is Farnsworth! | | AvgCustomerRating | 4.5 |
