Ease
The allowance added to a body measurement to make a garment wearable.
Ease
A way of sewing a length of fabric into a bit of a smaller space without resulting in gathers or puckers.
Ease, to (verb)
To attach a fabric edge to an edge that is slightly shorter. When ease-stitching, the longer edge s very slightly gathered.
Edgestitch
A stitch done a scant 1/8" from the folded or seamed edge.
Elasticity
The ability of a fiber or fabric to return to its original length, shape, or size immediately after the removal of stress.
Embellish
Adding special stitching, appliques, charms, or other decorations to your sewing project. Anything that adds something extra to the original design.
Embossing
A calendering process in which fabrics are engraved with the use of heated rollers under pressure to produce a raised design on the fabric surface.
Embroidery
An embellishment of a fabric or garment in which colored threads are sewn on to the fabric to create a design. Embroidery may be done either by hand or machine.
Empress Cloth
A smooth cloth of wool, or of a blend of cotton and wool.

En Coeur
The inward-curving trims or bodice opening curve that forms a heart shape as they descend from the top of the shoulders.
Entredeux
French word meaning "between two". Often it's a piece of lightweight fabric joined to another piece of lightweight fabric with a delicate bit of lace. Another method is to join two ribbons with a piece of lace.
Envelope Curtains
Casual curtains that do not pull back. The bottom inside corners are hooked back to let light in.
Expanded Format
Expanded is a format in which all the stitches are in place and the design is specified to be a specific size. Designs digitized in expanded format are not designed to be changed in size. Any changes in size will not affect the density or stitch count of a design.
Eyelet
A type of fabric which contains patterned cut-outs, around which stitching or embroidery may be applied in order to prevent the fabric from raveling.
