Machine embroidery
Decorative stitching created by using a regular sewing machine (zig zag, satin stitch, etc.) or a sewing machine specifically designed for machine embroidery. Combo machines are avaiable as well.
Mancheron
A short, flat oversleeve.
Mend
To repair or fix a hole, tear, split or other problem with a garment. This can be done with sew-on patches, iron-on patches, stitching by machine or hand in a variety of manners, or whatever method is convenient.
Merino
A fine fabric made of merino wool, or of fine wool and cotton.
Miter
The diagonal fold made at the corner in an edge finish, such as a binding, hem, etc.

Mitering a corner makes a smooth, tidy finish to a 90-degree corner, neatly squaring the corners while creating a diagonal seam from the point of the corner to the inside edge. Mitering is used for quilts corners, craft projects, some vests and jackets, and sometimes on collars or other decorative areas of a garment.

Moiré
A watermarked effect given to fabrics by the pressure of engraved rollers that displace and flatten threads to form the moiré pattern.

A thin, soft muslin with no stiffening.

Reclaimed wool of poor quality and short staple.

A generally inexpensive woven fabric used to make crafts, back quilts, or to make draft or trial garments.

A stout, light, open cotton fabric of varying fineness. The term is sometimes applied to fabrics similiarr to it, such as cambric, lawn, and mull. It is often used to make summer dresses, and is available plain or printed or dyed.
