Valance
A gathered, and sometimes shaped, mini curtain hung from a pelmet board to conceal the top of curtains or a curtain track.
Valencia
A fabric for waistcoats. The weft is of wool and the warp is of cotton or silk.
Velvet
A silk fabric that has a dense pile on right side, and may have a cotton back. Cut velvet has the pile loops cut so that the pile is of single threads; uncut velvet is called pile velvet, and the loops are not cut.
Velveteen
A cotton fabric that mimics velvet.

Most patterns show different variations on the pattern package. Each variation is called a "view".
Voile
A thin dress fabric of cotton or wool, woven from hard-twisted yarns with an open texture.
Volan
Small flounces and flounce-like trims used for sleeves or bodices.
